The Conversion Agenda

"Freedom to convert" is counterproductive as a generalized doctrine. It fails to come to terms with the complex interrelationships between self and society that make the concept of individual choice meaningful. Hence, religious conversion undermines, and in extremes would dissolve, that individual autonomy and human freedom.

Christian Missionaries Arrested for Inciting Violence in Orissa

Five Christian missionaries have been arrested in Orissa on a complaint by a group of Hindus that the former were inciting violence among tribes people, police said Sunday.

The Mumbai-based Catholic missionary Karl Silva and his associates were arrested Friday and have been remanded in judicial custody till Nov 4.

Orissa has been a trouble spot for some time now with Hindu organisations accusing missionaries working among tribes people of attempting to convert them to Christianity.
