Christian Missionaries held for disrupting Durga Puja Festival

A Mumbai-based Pastor Karl Silva and four Catholic missionaries have been arrested and sent to custody for preaching in a tribal area during the Durga Puja festival. Their bail application has been rejected too.
Reports reveal that the Christian preachers were preaching last Thursday evening at Suliapada in Mayurbhanj district. This annoyed the crowd and a local student opposed this and asked the preachers to stop.
The preachers allegedly started hurling abuses due to which the people complained to the police who intervened and arrested the five preachers.
Mayurbhanj district was in the news recently for VHP-sponsored reconversion ceremonies, where hundreds of Christians were reconverted to Hinduism.
Abhiram Dhala, a local was among the five preachers. Dhal, who had been staying in Mumbai for 12 years had accompanied the Christian group on their mission to Suliapada. The other Mumbai-based preachers are Roshan D'Souza, Ganesh Wankhede and Ramesh T Thawar.
