The Conversion Agenda

"Freedom to convert" is counterproductive as a generalized doctrine. It fails to come to terms with the complex interrelationships between self and society that make the concept of individual choice meaningful. Hence, religious conversion undermines, and in extremes would dissolve, that individual autonomy and human freedom.

For three days now, the city has groaned under the weight of the Benny Hinn show. Many of the apparently "healed" have justified the need for the mega-scale event, despite the multitude of problems.

But the jury is still out on whether Hinn is a "religious fraud" or someone with higher connections to the 'Lord'.

Sample this: Why were only the "so called cured" allowed on stage? Col Samuel (Retd) apparently suffers from immobility of the right side of his body. Hoping for a "miracle,"he, braved the crowd and managed to shuffle up to the stage; to be rudely jostled away by an organiser who said, "Only if you are healed, you can go on the stage. If not, your time has not come."

Then the question, are they really cured forever? And why are there no doctors from the city hospitals, but mostly from Hinn’s ministry? The next query is, what actually is the "miracle", what is the modus operandi on stage in this age of reason at IT City? Neither Hinn nor his stooges have any answer except a tepid "faith".
