The Conversion Agenda

"Freedom to convert" is counterproductive as a generalized doctrine. It fails to come to terms with the complex interrelationships between self and society that make the concept of individual choice meaningful. Hence, religious conversion undermines, and in extremes would dissolve, that individual autonomy and human freedom.

Communists cash on rising communal violence in Orissa – who to blame? Hindu hardliners or Christian mechanism of forced conversion?

Orissa is confronted with communal violence. The recent episode in riot-torn Kandhamal is significant. The communists that want to use the Christian minority for votes in next election are urging the Central Government of Manmohan Singh to deploy Army. The Christian bodies are appealing to Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati to call upon the people in Orissa to restore peace in riot-torn Kandhamal district where three people were killed and several houses and churches gutted during the recent communal violence.

But who can be blamed for the whole episode. While those who were involved in the riots have really not followed the basis of Hinduism which is love, compassion and nonviolence, there is much more to it.

For decades the Christians in the regions have used American and European money to allure citizens into the Church and covert them into Christianity. While every human beings have the right to believe in their ‘God’, it is certainly non-religious to pay money and promise all kinds of things like better education, higher standard of living and so on to convert naïve Hindus into Christianity.

The net gainer in this is the communists and Marxists. These hypocrite political forces are trying to convert to the Christians that they should vote for the communists in the next election. Sonia Gandhi’s congress party is also taking the same route.

Communal riots are deplorable. But the forced conversion into Christianity is more deplorable. Are Hindus trying to convert people in America and Europe into Hinduism with money and false promises? Has any one’s ‘God’ ever said to take unscrupulous path in converting from One God to another God?
