A class VI student of a Guwahati convent died after being allegedly beaten up by a teacher for inattentiveness.
On Tuesday, a mathematics teacher in the school slapped Rismita Bora, a class VI student, rendering her unconscious.
The child's father Jagat Chandra Bora alleged on Thursday that instead of taking the child to a nursing home located near the school, the authorities wasted time by waiting for him to reach the school and take the child to the hospital.
The child was shifted to a specialised nursing home where she died late on Tuesday night, he added.
He has, however, not yet filed a case with the police in this connection.
The headmistress of the school said the school was looking into the allegations.
The incident comes close on the heels of the death of a class X student of Maharishi Vidyamandir in Guwahati following a scuffle with a fellow student.
