The district office of Tamil Nadu Special Armed Police is situated in Subramaniapuram, Tiruchy. On February 18, 2007, Shri Daniel, a Sub Inspecter attached to this office, tore the pictures of Hindu Gods and Goddesses from the walls of the office. Constables on duty opposed this. As a result, tension mounted. The SP of the district, Shri Rajasekaran instructed ADSP Shri Manickavachagam to conduct a departmental enquiry about the incident. Even as the enquiry was in progress, Daniel was transferred to Perambalur Special Armed Police centre. Once the enquiry is over, Daniel may be suspended, police sources said.
