Kochi, Mar 14: Large-scale Conversion of adivasis in the Puthanpuzha panchayat in Kothamangalam area is said to be going on with the tacit support of the police and forest department officials and an estimated 500 families have been so far converted to Christianity.

According to a report in the Kerala Kaumudi C M J Pentacost, Evangelical denominations are spearheading the conversion operations amongst the Muthuva and Malayaraya communities with the support and cooperation of the forest and police department officials.

Large numbers of families have been converted in Kurathikudi leaving just a few families to be proselytized. Over 200 families have already become workers of the Christian missionary organisations.

The poor adivasis are being lured by offering financial assistance, food items and old clothes. These organisations have already initiated moves to construct churches and schools in the area
