The Conversion Agenda

"Freedom to convert" is counterproductive as a generalized doctrine. It fails to come to terms with the complex interrelationships between self and society that make the concept of individual choice meaningful. Hence, religious conversion undermines, and in extremes would dissolve, that individual autonomy and human freedom.

Gospel of Asia Missionaries Aim At Converting Children

SRI LANKA, February 10, 2005: Seemingly oblivious to the controversy surrounding such methods, K. P. Yohannan of Gospel for Asia proudly reports his organization's attempts to adopt tsunami-orphaned children and convert them to Christianity. Here's his latest report:

"The scenes of devastation (in Sri Lanka and India) still burn in my mind. And my heart especially aches for the children, many still wandering, searching hopelessly for mothers and fathers who will never return. Hundreds of these boys and girls are now in GFA's newly formed transition camps, being given food, clothing and the loving care of GFA workers. But as the months wear on, it is urgent to find a permanent place for them. These children desperately need hope for a future, and in God's provision, our Bridge of Hope ministry has opened a way for us to bring them that hope. [click here for a short video about Bridge of Hope's role in helping tsunami children.] Through Bridge of Hope, we are committed to helping these children find the love of Jesus that will enable them to build a life with value and joy.

"By attending a Bridge of Hope school, children have a chance to learn basic school subjects, English, and the message of Jesus' love for them. They receive uniforms, yearly medical checkups and at least one hot meal each day. It only costs $28 a month to give a child the live-changing opportunity to attend a Bridge of Hope school, so this is an opportunity in which many believers like you can participate. Right now, thousands of children, both in India and in Sri Lanka, are wondering what the next weeks, months and years will bring them. While we are still in the process of registering the Sri Lankan children, we are asking our friends to sponsor dozens of Indian children who are ready and waiting for sponsorship. So please keep all of these boys and girls in your prayers, and consider if the Lord is leading you to sponsor a Bridge of Hope child today. May the Lord bless you as we remember His precious ones."
