Security has been beefed up in remote and hilly areas of Tripura in view of a call by insurgents of two banned outfits to observe Saturday as a "black day", police said.
The All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) have issued the call to protest against the merger of Tripura, then a princely state, with the Union on October 15, 1949.
Superintendent of police (operation) Nepal Das said patrolling had been intensified and a special counter insurgency operation was on to thwart any attempt of subversive activities by the ultras.
